Rocky Mountain National Park -- and the Rocky Mountains in general -- are only about an hour's drive (or less) away from the wedding site. If you want to visit the mountains while you're in the area, here are the basics on how to drive there.
You can easily drive up to either Rocky Mountain National Park or
the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. Both contain a lot of excellent hikes (and drives) that you can enjoy in a day, especially if you get an early start to beat the crowds (parking areas are often small and fill up by 9 a.m. in the summer).
